Mackerel Study reduction print

This Mackerel Study #1 reduction print marks the start of a new and exciting series for me. A 7 layer reduction print which is part of a series of prints being developed for a local exhibition titled “Maritime”. It’s centred around Welsh marine and coastal exploration.

I feel it also perfectly compliments both my Waves and Wildthings collections.

I have previously used the method of having a separate plate for each colour. This is considered a safer way to work and can theoretically give you unlimited prints. The reduction technique means that your are working into the same piece of lino after you’ve printed each layer. The nature of reduction printing means a limited edition but it also means you are able to achieve more subtlety. I also love the texture that layering inks creates.

This print is limited to an edition of 25.
